In psychology, there is a concept called the Detached Protector. It is a defense mechanism where a person disconnects from their strong feelings and emotions because they are perceived as being beyond their control and thus threatening.
This leads to emotional freezing or numbness, which, while intended to act as a protective shield, simultaneously becomes a trap of isolation. The series aims at depicting the paradox and oppressive nature of this phenomenon. The photographs were subjected to the working of water and low temperatures. The ice formed on them creates a protective/enclosing shell.
